The German Society for Studies in Art History, a long-established association of art historians and art enthusiasts, promotes the research and publication of works of art from German-speaking countries.

Since its foundation the Society has published more than 300 books, many of which number among the standard works of the field of Art History. In the more than a hundred years of its activity the German Society for Studies in Art History has contributed substantially to shaping this discipline in Germany.

Since 1934 the Society has been publishing the "Zeitschrift des Deutschen Vereins für Kunstwissenschaft", one of the most renowned periodicals on German art history, and since 2011 it has been organizing the "Forum Kunst des Mittelalters," a biennial conference on medieval art.
